Lots of quarterback changes in Big 12 this fall
The Big 12 is facing an identity crisis at quarterback, with a lot of different players preparing to take snaps this fall.
Seven of the league’s 10 teams had senior quarterbacks, providing for a lot of changes during spring practice.
“With new QBs, there are always question marks. I mean, you don’t really know until you know,” Baylor coach Art Briles said Tuesday. “The only way to know is to get out on the field with them in the heat of battle and find out how they respond. Yeah, it changes the dynamics of the league 100 percent.”
Kevin Haskin: Longevity makes KU record intriguing for Self
Musings at the mid-week:
■ The prospect that intrigues me about Bill Self is coaching longevity. At Kansas.
■ Through 10 seasons he is averaging 30 wins, sitting at 300 exactly. Phog Allen holds the KU coaching record with 590.
■ Rather than bandy about Self’s name for the NBA, how about he coaches at KU long enough to be its winningest coach?
■ He quickly dismisses any questions about win totals, and records, but at this pace …
■ I liked it when he expressed confidence about next season despite losing five starters.
KU’s Weis ‘encouraged’ by Heaps’ performance
LAWRENCE — Before we all get too carried away, it’s worth noting that a year ago at Kansas’ spring game, some guy named Dayne Crist looked pretty sharp, too.

That’s not to say Heaps did anything to lessen the hopes that he’ll provide the Jayhawks with some much-needed stability, if not an actual playmaking threat, at quarterback.
