Jayhawks pick up rare series win against OSU
LAWRENCE — His teammates wouldn’t dare bother him. Especially before the ninth inning.
KU closer Jordan Piché sat alone in the dugout before preparing himself for one more inning to finish off No. 19 Oklahoma State.
“I just told myself,” Piché said, “it stops here.”
Piché was successful, as the (18-12, 5-4) Jayhawks beat the (22-8, 4-4) Cowboys 3-2 on Sunday, to win the weekend series 2-1. It was KU’s first series win over a ranked team since the Jayhawks finished the series against No. 21 Baylor on April 3, 2011.

Releford credits KU scouting for stopping K-State star
MANHATTAN — If Kansas’ guard Travis Releford was studying for a test on Kansas State guard Rodney McGruder, he passed with flying colors.
Releford chased Rodney McGruder for the majority of the game, holding the hot-handed senior in check for two points in the first half.
“Starting off the first half I thought I did real well at making him uncomfortable and not letting him get easy looks at the rim,” Releford said.
Weis handling incident involving KU’s Heeney
Kansas coach Charlie Weis said he is aware of an incident involving linebacker Ben Heeney, the Jayhawks’ leading tackler last season.
“We have discussed this with all of the parties involved and believe we know what truly happened,” Weis said in a statement. “We are handling it internally with appropriate measures.”
The Lawrence Journal-World reported Heeney was cited for misdemeanor battery after an incident Sunday at Tonic, a Lawrence nightclub. Douglas County court records don’t show that Heeney was booked into jail in connection with the incident.
