Kansas women suffer 72-56 home loss to West Virginia

LAWRENCE — It’s a rare occasion for Angel Goodrich to shoot and miss the rim entirely.

On Saturday afternoon at Allen Fieldhouse, Goodrich fired a 3-point shot in the second half with Kansas trailing by 14 points. The shot fell short. Short of the rim, short of the net — short of everything.

The airball represented a second half against West Virginia in which the Jayhawks fell short — way short in their 72-56 loss to the Mountaineers.

“We stunk it up today,” KU coach Bonnie Henrickson said. “There’s no doubt about that.”

Jayhawks beat Baylor; McLemore’s injury not serious

LAWRENCE – Listed at 7-foot-1, Baylor freshman Isaiah Austin might be the only player in the Big 12 capable of looking at Kansas’ Jeff Withey from above eye level.

When Austin drove in the paint, though, he got the same treatment as everyone else wearing Baylor green. Despite giving up five inches, KU’s Perry Ellis sent Austin’s shot back from whence it came, one of 13 blocks for the No. 4 Jayhawks in a 61-44 victory against the Bears on Big Monday at Allen Fieldhouse.
