Kansas Ready to Rebuild

Wayne Selden, ranked twelfth in the ESPN Top 100, is poised to make an immediate impact for the Jayhawks next season.Bill Self and his young Kansas Jayhawk basketball team have high expectations for the 2013-2014 basketball season. By Brennan Keller As the Kansas Jayhawks ended the 2012-2013 season with a crushing 87-85 loss to Michigan in the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet Sixteen, many fans (including myself) are already looking forward to what’s in store for next season.  Assuming that freshman sensation and fan favorite Ben McLemore declares for the upcoming NBA draft, the Jayhawks will enter next season having lost their entire starting lineup in seniors Kevin Young, Jeff Withey, Elijah Johnson, Travis Releford, and Ben McLemore.  That being said, there are several talented players (including a McDonalds All-American) that have the potential to make the… Continue reading

Jayhawks fallen

NCAA Tournament: KansasJayhawks lose to Michigan in Sweet Sixteen of NCAA Tournament Dylan Gehlbach And that’s the toughest part about the NCAA Tournament. In almost every tournament game, no matter how well (or poorly) a team has played in the game so far, every team has the opportunity to win it or lose it in the final two minutes. As the Kansas Men’s Basketball team returns to Lawrence while the Michigan Wolverines are defeating the Florida Gators, cementing their spot in the Final Four, it shows just how much of a difference those final two minutes can make. The Jayhawks were playing one of their best games of the year against Michigan in the Sweet Sixteen Friday…. Continue reading

Kansas Poised for Deep Tournament Run

1fjDXE.St.81Jayhawks are playing some of the best basketball in the country By Andrew Curtis Success is learned through failure. This is especially true for the 2012-2013 Kansas basketball team. In circumstances not seen since the Bush administration, KU managed to lose an unfathomable three games in a row in early February. Since then, a beast has awoken. Kansas has won its last seven games by an average of 21 points. Granted, five of those games have been at home, but one of them completed a sweep over the team that’s tied for first place with KU atop the Big 12 (for now), Kansas State. Kansas State faces a stiff road test Saturday at Gallagher-Iba Arena… Continue reading

Credit: (AP Photo/Orlin Wagner)Can Ben McLemore play like he’s at home in the tourney? By Dylan Gehlbach To the students at the University of Kansas, Ben McLemore is Superman. And why shouldn’t he be? He is easily one of the top three players in the Big 12. He leads the Jayhawks scoring 16.6 points each game. McLemore could be the number one pick in the NBA draft. He rains threes. And he can dunk. Man, can he dunk. With his electric style of play, McLemore leaves the fans in Allen Fieldhouse screaming. But that’s at Allen Fieldhouse, and there lies the problem. When it has come down to big games on the road, McLemore has not shown up… Continue reading
