Kansas has been a big man factory as of late, from Cole Aldrich to the Morris twins, to Thomas Robinson. But their most impressive output may be Jeff Withey. When he transferred to Kansas from Arizona, Withey was buried on the depth… Continue reading
Ben McLemore has come a long way from being academically ineligible during the 2011-12 season. He broke the Kansas Freshman record for scoring, and now he is the 7th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft.

We should have a post or two up tomorrow about the NBA Draft, but to whet your appetite before then, let’s see what others are saying about the draft and talk about it a little bit:

11On the heels of Sophomore Lindsay Vollmer winning the national championship in the heptathlon, Kansas held a comfortable lead in the outdoor track championships headed into the final day. Kansas held off Texas A&M and Oregon to win the national title going away, finishing with 60 points, 16 ahead of 2nd place A&M.
On Saturday, Kansas began the day with a 5th place finish in the 4x100m relay, finishing a spot behind then 2nd place Oregon. Kansas virtually clinched the title without having to do anything as Oregon failed to score points with either of their two runners competing in the 1,500m finals, leaving them still behind Kansas with the Jayhawks having an extra event to compete in. Texas A&M and LSU each had more events, and thus more chances to catch the Jayhawks, but they were even further back points wise.
And then, with a 4th place finish in the 200m dash, Paris Daniels clinched the title for the Jayhawks. The title was KU’s first track title, and even more importantly their first national title in any women’s sport.
Individually, 11 Jayhawks were named 1st team All Americans, and two were named to the 2nd team.
It’s been a great run for the Jayhawks, and the team backed up their runner up finish in the indoor championships in the best possible way: with a national title. If you (yes, you!) would like to congratulate them on their effort, you can do so by going to Allen Fieldhouse at 2 PM today.
Let’s get this out of the way: I love ESPN’s Eamonn Brennan. He writes thoughtful posts without being sensational, and he has a very good grasp of the Xs and Os of the game as well as the stats. It’s tough to objectively rank writers,… Continue reading
